I have owned this banjo for almost 1 year. After i finally achieved a good set-up I have been complemented on its sound. However, while I was doing the set-up I found 2 problems. The head was split near the band at the top near the neck. It will have to be replaced. Also, the heel of the neck will not allow me to adjust the action as well as I would like to because of interference from the flange. This is a great medium priced banjo

I have been playing this banjo for 12 years (since I was 17) and I love it. I have set it up with a five star head, presto tailpiece, and Snuffy Smith bridge, and has an outstanding tone. I use it in the den, at jams, and occassionally in front of actual audiences, and it sounds great and performs well. I would recommend it to anyone ready to upgrade from the pawn shop special to a mid-level banjo. You won't be disappointed. It was recommended to me by an outstanding picker from Western North Carolina as the best banjo for the price, and I couldn't argee more. It is head and shoulders about the similarly-priced Deering Goodtime.
